We have compiled a list of commonly asked questions regarding complimentary Timeshare, Real Estate, and Casino Promotions, to better assist you in choosing the promotion that is right for you.
What’s the catch ?
Many companies offer incentives as an enticement to promote their product, much like banks give away gifts for opening a checking account, or car dealership give away electronics for taking a test drive of the latest model. Travel promotions are no different. Most travel promotions are offered with out obligation to purchase or buy anything what so ever, but most offers are in exchange for a promotional tour of their property, or resort (Usually 2 hours ) . Reputable companies will spell out the terms of the offer up front, and rely on the word of mouth advertising and referrals from participants to their family and friends.
Why do I have to meet certain requirements ?
Promotions that are offered to the general public are bound by strict U.S. regulation and consumer protection. They are offered to a variety of locations nationwide and abroad. Many companies require very basic “qualifications” from participants to ensure all age restrictions are met for the various locations, and to dissuade minors, and large groups from exploiting the promotions for ulterior motives.
Promotions that call for couples, or families are probably run by companies that cater to that particular demographic. Plain and simple.
If this is complimentary, Why do I need to put up a deposit ?
Simple. Many companies gladly welcome all the participants they can accommodate, based on availability. In every travel market, a deposit is required to hold a room reservation, car rental, flight and just about any other activity to insure that you are serious about showing up. It’s no different just because someone else is paying on your behalf. It’s still your reservation, and if you want it held or have the offer to use at a latter date, you have to put your name on it with a deposit.
What does “Refundable Deposit” mean?
It means just that. The promotion is designed for you to receive the deposit that you put up to secure the promotion, back in your pocket, either partially or in full. Refund times vary, and are usually spelled out up front, and range from immediately following participation of the promotion or tour, to some time after check out, or after you disembark. A good rule of thumb regarding deposits is to refrain from any actions that would cause you to loose your deposit if you had paid for the promotion yourself.
What Does “Open Dated” mean ?
It simply means that the provider allows the convenience of securing the promotion now, for use at a later date, so that you can book reservations through them at any time during the window of participation. Some of the more popular promotions offer no black out dates, or very few travel restrictions, if any. Be and sure check advance notice restrictions and be alert of heavy travel times of year.
What is a “Surcharge”, and when does it apply ?
In particularly busy markets like Las Vegas, Orlando, Hawaii, Miami, and New York, certain times of the year attract more visitors than others. Although the foundation of the promotion remains the same, room rates and flights skyrocket during these times. Rest assured that if you are using your promotional get away during these times, you are most times paying peanuts compared to what it would cost to book and pay for it yourself.
Every offer is different, but common surcharge dates are New Years Eve, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentines Day, and any 3 day holiday week end (Veteran’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, etc) . Cities like Las Vegas, Orlando, and San Diego that have large convention traffic also attract more visitors at other times of the year. Customer service or concierge services will help steer you around these dates to limit your expense. Even with the nominal surcharge, participating in these types of promotions for holiday travel is very economical.
What if I am not interested in Timeshare, or the offer?
No problem. How could you know if you haven’t seen the product ? Companies that run promotions like these understand that everyone may not interested in what they have to offer at the time. They are offering you an incentive to come and look. They also know that many people participate in them to save money…it’s no big secret, however, they understand that it is just natural that if you enjoy yourself on their promotion, that you will mention their company name when you tell others of your wonderful time, and should you become interested in the future, or are checking out different opportunities, that you may come back for a second look. It’s win-win situation for everyone !
I have heard some horror stories about these type of promotions.
Yes. Just about everyone knows someone, or heard a story about a horrible ” real estate ” seminar in Mexico where a couple was locked in a room until they purchased a condo. It’s the joke of every movie and sitcom, and companies are well aware of public perception of what they so generously offer.
Every year millions of couples and families participate in travel promotions, and that number is expected to rise in 2009 as individuals and families look for cost saving ideas to get away. Every reputable company in the industry strives to combat the negative stereotypes and folklore images created by 1 or 2 disreputable companies that made national attention in the 70’s and early 80’s abroad.
CompStay.com only recommends those companies that have impeccable reputations, and years of hospitality experience in the travel industry, and takes any deviation from the standard of excellence and customer service that they have all pledged to you and us very seriously. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about an offer, or company listed on this site.
Likewise, feel free to let us know if a company we list have exceeded the standard of excellence, and have helped to make you get-a-way one filled with fond memories.
How Do I find out more about a particular promotion ?
Simple. Use the contact form provided with each listing. It is already configured to go directly to the particular company offering the promotion. A customer service representative will contact you within 72 hours. Keep in mind, complimentary or deeply discounted travel promotions are limited and based on availability.
